Garbage Info

Curbside Pick-Up

Bins are to be curbside in time for the morning pick up. The city trucks have a camera which views the contents, and computer chip reader which logs  the address. If the driver sees that garbage was not sorted correctly, a note and the garbage itself will be left unemptied.

Only regular household waste can go in the bins. Batteries or other household hazardous items need to be treated separately. Electronics and batteries can be dropped off at various locations throughout the city.

Larger Items

The city does not pick up large curbside items. They can be contacted to arrange a pick up, below is a link to that service. Their 2016 Rate is: $32 for the 1st item, $25 for each item after.

We are able to offer a private service to dispose of large items such as furniture, electronics, large toys or other equipment that does not fit in, or will fill the bins. There is usually a small fee associated with this service, and it available only through booking those times available. Through these limitations, we are able to offer this service at an extremely low rate.

Sorting Items?

The Three types of curbside waste are:
  • Dry Recyclable: sheets of paper, card board, hard plastics, cans and jars. Shredded paper is accepted, however, it must be in a plastic bag

  • Wet Organics: kitchen waste items, pretty much anything that is compostable

  • Waste: Tim Horton's cups, plastic bags, chip bags, ziploc bags, styrofoam, pretty much everything that food usually comes in: plastic wrap, chocolate bar wrappers. Little things that cannot be easily recycled: pens, pencils, cotton balls, staples...
